A Vision for the Next Generation
Within ten miles of our campus are thousands of young-family households,
many spiritually open and not yet connected to a church. This is our opportunity
to build a family-centered space that meets young families where they are,
and creates a natural pathway from first connection to lasting discipleship.
This is not simply about improving campus space; it is about shaping the future
of the church.
Our Vision
Where Community Grows & Faith Deepens: We envision a church campus that builds on the faithfulness of those who came before us and helps us reach the next generation—a place where every generation can connect, grow in faith, and encounter Christ.
The Opportunity
Creating Space for Connection: Within ten miles of our campus are thousands of young-family households, many spiritually open and not yet connected to a church. This is our opportunity to build a family-centered space that meet young families where they are and creates a natural pathway from first connection to lasting discipleship. This is not simply about improving campus space; it is about shaping the future of the church.
Why Now?
To remain a thriving multigenerational church, we must intentionally connect with young adults and young families in our community. Thousands of young families live within ten miles of our campus, many spiritually open but not yet connected to a church. This campaign will help us create welcoming spaces and meaningful opportunities for families to connect, grow in faith, and become part of a lasting church community.

Frequently Asked Questions
Investing In A Legacy of Faith Capital Campaign
What exactly is The Front Porch?
The Front Porch is a front-of-campus community space just off Main Street. We will transform the parking lot in front of an expanded Post into a commercial play area with a water feature, a covered porch, sport court, and a family gathering lawn; open a café inside The Post that looks out onto the play area; and connect all of it to the Children’s & Students Building next door. It is not a single new building — it is one connected indoor-and-outdoor environment built around a place we already steward.
Why is this the right time for a project like this?
The corridor surrounding FBCG — Grapevine, Southlake, Flower Mound, Colleyville, and Keller — contains approximately 43,900 young-family households. Roughly 25,000 are not connected to any church. The median age is rising across every city in the corridor. A church that does not make a deliberate, visible investment in young families in the next three to five years will find the demographic tide has moved past it. The window is open — but it is not unlimited.
Why not focus on programs instead of spaces?
Spaces don’t replace programs. They create the conditions for programs to reach people they couldn’t reach before. If interested in the children’s and youth programs, please visit https://www.grapevinesfirst.org/next-gen-resources on the church’s website.
How does the Front Porch connect to the overall A Legacy of Faith campaign?
The Front Porch is the anchor project of the $6.5M campaign. The remaining funds support the related projects: revitalizing the chapel, reconfiguring the children’s and student spaces, upgrading the worship center, creating additional parking and a new entrance on the East side of our building, and enhancing some of our other existing facilities. Together this investment tells a unified story: FBCG is investing in every space that touches families — from the moment a child arrives at the front door to the moment the whole family gathers for worship.
Why build a playground and water feature and will it be expensive to maintain?
The playground and water feature gives families a reason to come to First Baptist Grapevine and is an attraction for young families. This will create a community family outreach tool that no other church in this corridor has with meaningful scale. This play area will be open to the community and it can become a central reason unchurched families walk onto this campus for the first time. The water feature will be similar to what is located at Harvest Hall on Main Street and should not require any excessive maintenance.
When is the play area open and who can use it?
Specifics on operating hours will be developed and published at a later date and will vary between the enclosed building and the playground.
Is there a liability risk for the play area that must be considered?
The finance office has already been in contact with our insurance provider and confirmed that our current policy is ample for any associated liability risk tied to this capital campaign.
How will the church provide safety for families and children who will be using these facilities?
The church staff is developing policies and procedures to create a safe and welcoming environment for both our church members and community. Measures will include signage outlining facility-use guidelines including age-appropriate requirements, hours of operations, and on-site staff will be on the premises during certain times of the day. In addition, we will partner with the City to ensure compliance with posted facility rules.
What changes are being made to the sanctuary?
The work being performed in the sanctuary is a continuation of the work done in early 2026 to replace the aging infrastructure of our lighting. Phase one, which is complete, was to replace the lighting server backbone and house lighting infrastructure which was more than 30 years old. This next phase will primarily replace end-of-life stage lighting and video screens which we can no longer find replacement parts for.
What work is being done to the East entrance of the church?
The East entrance will have a new covered drop off area for cars, a gathering area like the grand entrance, expanded parking, and a covered walkway between the chapel and main building.
What changes are being made to the children and student building?
Changes will be made on the first and second floor of the children and student building to add special needs spaces, updated room options, a refresh of dated paint and flooring, and updated audio and visual equipment.
Why do we need to invest in the revitalization of the Chapel at this time?
The current Chapel can provide our church a gathering place for weddings, funerals, Sunday morning worship, weekday gatherings, and a quiet place to worship. Currently this space is offering no real value to the church despite having to pay for facility insurance and maintenance.
What changes are you expecting to make to our existing facilities?
Our existing facilities are in need of both external and internal updates. While the exact projects are still being evaluated, updating the external facing parts of our facilities on Wall and Texas street while also doing some internal upgrades to lighting, classroom spaces, and our safety and security capabilities will be evaluated.
