What Is Baptism?
At Grapevine’s First, we baptize by immersion, which means you are fully immersed under water. That’s the example we see throughout Scripture, and is the basis for the word “baptize,” which means to immerse (or dip under) in water.
Should I Be Baptized?
If you have placed your faith and trust in Jesus for salvation, then yes, you should be baptized! Baptism isn’t required for salvation, but it is the first step of faith & obedience for believers. Baptism doesn’t save you; Jesus does! We believe that you are saved by grace through faith and not by anything you have done (Ephesians 2:8).
Why Should I Be Baptized?
Baptism illustrates Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Baptism doesn’t make you a believer, but it shows that you have chosen to believe. Baptism is a picture of the work that Jesus has done in a person’s life; an outward symbol of what has already taken place on the inside. You should be baptized to follow Jesus’ example in baptism. He was baptized (Mark 1:9), and He commanded us to be baptized (Matthew 28:19-20).
How Do I Get Baptized?
If you’re a believer, you should be baptized! It doesn’t matter if you were saved 20 years ago or just last week… it’s time to take the next step in your faith journey! Contact us to start the conversation by emailing discipleship@grapevinesfirst.org.
